Of traffic jams, floods, and sleep deprivation – Part 2
I thought I was seeing double when the lights came on.
Tius and Dion are identical twins and they both belong to an Indonesian rock band called ‘Saint Loco’. One listen to their songs and it’ll remind you of Linkin Park.
Tius aka DJ Tius plays drums, sings, raps and is also a mean turntablist. Dion manages the band as well as the studio they work in. Both are in their early 20s. I must say I wasn’t quite expecting to see a fully functional and well-equipped studio that comes with all the essential ‘toys’ and gadgets and a music producer would be proud to have. These boys certainly got their act together alright.

The studio also comes with a generous recording booth that comes with some major pre-amps and a drum kit. Looks like we’re going to have some serious fun tonight.
For the next 3 hours or so, the boys took turns recording, drumming, scratching and rapping and their enthusiasm was infectious. They kept asking for another better take so that we would obtain the best results.
As we bid farewell to the boys and left the premise at 4 in the morning, I couldn’t help but think the day’s events would have potentially been a disaster had it not been for this stroke of serendipity.

The next morning I got up bright and early after 4 hours of brief slumber to set up my laptop and speakers for the presentation. Bob and Tony came shortly after that and after a few tweaks, Tony nodded his head in approval.
Couple of hours later the clients arrived. They listened to the newly improved track and for the first time, they didn’t pick on it. That was a success on its own. These clients had previously rejected every single piece of music which we presented to them.
However, having said that, the presentation started at noon and didn’t finish till seven in the evening. The agency had to work hard to convince them. After handing the agency the finalized material, my producer and I looked at each other and sighed a breath of relief. At last, we thought.
Of course the evening wouldn’t be complete without getting ourselves into a little ‘trouble’ on the alcohol front. My producer Bernie insisted that we go out to the nearby pub for a drink to wrap up the day’s event as well as to celebrate my birthday (which was the day after) . 3 rounds of drinks and 4 rounds of shots later, I found myself dancing with 4 of the bar maids to ‘Promiscuous Girl’ to a rousing cheer from Bob, Tony, and Bernie.
Funny enough, the next morning I was completely hung-over free whilst Bernie struggled to get out of bed.
“So would you like to come back here again?” I laughed as I asked her.
She looked at me mischievously and smirked.
“Absolutely.”
